
Kentucky Organization for Student Success Constitution
ARTICLE I: NAME
The organization shall be known as the Kentucky Organization for Student Success (KOSS).
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The purpose of this Organization shall be:

To provide visibility and increased awareness of college readiness and access, student support, and student success programs through a professional group in the post-secondary system.

To promote support for college readiness and access, student support, and student success programming.

To provide a means for identification of, and interaction with, fellow professionals in college readiness and access, student support, and student success areas.

To provide an information channel for college readiness and access, student support, and student success programs.

To assess, clarify and promote professional standards for college readiness and access, student support, and student success programs.

To provide professional development for sharing of instructional methods, techniques, and strategies based on best practices.

To provide an arena for the discussion of local campus issues related to college readiness and access, student support, and student success programs.

To identify and initiate solutions for issues and concerns affecting college readiness and access, student support, and student success.

To be a spokes group for college readiness and access, student support, and student success programs.

To promote communication about student success issues among educators at all levels.
-
To promote collaboration with adult and high school educators.
ARTICLE III: AFFILIATION
The Kentucky Organization for Student Success shall be affiliated with the National Organization for Student Success.
ARTICLE IV: MEMBERSHIP
Membership for the Organization will be those who have paid their dues and thus have voting rights.
ARTICLE V: OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES
Section 1. The officers for the Organization shall be:
a. President
b. President-Elect
c. Secretary
d. Treasurer
e. Member-at-Large from a two-year institution
f. Member-at-Large from a four-year institution
g. Membership Chair
Section 2. Committees for the Organization shall be:
a. Nominating Committee
b. Membership Committee
c. Conference Committee
d. Awards Committee
e. Other committees as appointed by the President
Section 3. Presidential Appointments
The president appoints non-voting officers as needed, such as newsletter editor, political liaison, digital media liaison, diversity chair, conference liaison, and archivist. All are invited to attend and participate in all Executive Council meetings, as is the immediate Past President; however, none (except for the immediate past president
ARTICLE VI: AMENDMENTS
Amendments to the constitution may be made at the Organization’s annual conference by a 2/3 majority vote of the members present with proposed amendments sent at least one week in advance to all members.
ARTICLE VII: DISSOLUTION
Upon dissolution of the Kentucky Organization for Student Success, such assets as may remain shall be distributed for charitable, educational, or scientific purposes as described in section 50 l(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, and such decision shall rest with the Executive Council.
